FOUNTAIN BARGE 2012
"Agop Armen won first prize in the prestigious Umberto Mastroianni Award in 2010 after a jury selected three finalists. His
design was then chosen by majority vote by the residents of Barge. The sculpture fountain is placed in the garden of the Piazza Stazione (Train Station). The fountain, carved from the local stone called Luserna, elegantly unites the past and the present with a composition that is in harmonic agreement with the environment. The inauguration took place 14 April 2012.
The Sculpture Biennale was named the “Umberto Mastroianni” award to celebrate one of the greatest Italian sculptors, and for many years this event has been active inTurin and the Piedmont region, to provide an opportunity for the promising sculptors. Since its first edition, the award is to create a permanent work at the expense of the Piedmont region, to be placed in one of its communities. During the past seven editions, the award, whose participation is by invitation only, was assigned to the most important artists on the international scene."
